To say our cadet and junior teams were most successful in the second session of the season played at Stowupland on Sunday 3rd December would be an understatement...

Following the first session of matches in November, we were all very proud of how well they all played and handled themselves; which, for most, was their first taste of competitive table tennis.  However, that pride has just increased immensely with both teams going on to win their divisions and gain promotion, the cadets into division 2 and juniors into division 1.

The junior team were again represented by Josh Curry (captain) and Joe Holland, but were this time joined by Antony Taylor who had been unable to make the first round of matches in November.  The inclusion of Antony proved to be key to the team’s success as they once again won all their matches, but this time by a margin great enough to secure them the division title.  Once again Josh was unbeaten and was most ably supported by Joe with 75% (6 out of 8) and Antony with 62% (5 out of 8).  So session 3 will see them playing against some of the best players in the region.  Good luck guys.

With Antony being available for the juniors meant Daniel Yu could drop down to represent our cadets as their number 1 and captain.  All team members from the first session were again available; Alex and Ben Clarke, Jakob Belton, and James Wang.  Daniel made a great impact as he looked most at ease against all opposition and finished the session winning all his matches, only dropping one leg!  But Daniel wasn’t the only cadet player to return with a 100% win rate as Jokob also showed some fantastic play to win all his games!  The rest of the team also performed so very well, with everyone winning over 50% of their matches, James came in with 67% (2 from 3), Ben with 60% (3 from 5) and Alex with 50% (2 from 4).

Once again I was most proud of our young players skill and conduct, both on and off the table.  And this time I was so pleased to see their dedication and hard work produce the results they thoroughly deserved.  You guys are going up to play in much stronger divisions for the next session, it’s going to be tough for you, but you’ve earned that right to be there and I’m sure you do BTTC, your parents, and yourselves proud again.

A word should also go out to the parents who have not only supported their boys by bringing them along to BTTC on a regular basis and once again turned out to support them throughout the day; what a difference you guys make, thank you.

Well done again lads, we're all very proud of you.
