WBL end of round 4 report

Draycott Midlands maintained their 100% start to the season with a 6-0 win over Thorntons.

The league leaders were tested throughout the match, with Emma Vickers having to recover from a 2-0 deficit to defeat the determined Emma Rose. However, Draycott came through unscathed, with Abbie Milwain particularly impressive.

Halton picked up their first win of the season as they defeated second placed Fusion. Beth Roberts was the star of the show again as she picked up two victories, whilst Nicole Hall and Beth Farnworth won one apiece. Halton raced into a 3-0 lead, which included Roberts' superb 3-1 win over Lois Peake, before Peake and Emma Torkington gave Fusion hope with victories over Hall and Farnworth respectively. However, Roberts held her nerve to defeat Sarah Short and secure Halton a precious victory.

Fusion's defeat allowed YHL to move into second place after they defeated Burton Uxbridge 5-1. Birthday girls Yolanda King and Vicky Smith celebrated in style as they registered two wins apiece, whilst Rachel Trevorrow chimed in with a single as she overcame Isobel Ashley. Kate Hughes defeated Trevorrow for Burton's only set.

Draycott East Midlands 2 won the top of the table clash in Divsion 1 as they defeated Formby 5-1. Two wins apiece from Kate Cheer and Nicole Bird saw their team storm to victory, with Emily Bolton's win over Diana Rusinova a consolation for Formby. Knighton Park have moved into second place after defeating Wigan TTC 6-0.

Division 2 remains as tight as ever, with a point seperating the top three teams. Previous league leaders Byng Hall dropped into second place on sets difference after drawing 3-3 with Halton, with Fusion II moving to the top of the division after a 6-0 victory over Nottingham Sycamore.

York Garden Angels moved to the top of Division 3 after defeating Cippenham 6-0. Their result, combined with Fusion 3's surprising 5-1 defeat to Draycott East Midlands 3, saw them hit the top going into the final round of the weekend.

Burton Uxbridge remain on course for an unbeaten first weekend after winning their fourth straight match. They defeated Stantek Old Spots 5-1, and will now face they biggest challenge of the weekend in the shape of Halton TTC 3 in final round of the weekend.

Finally, MK Vixens maintained their three point cushion at the top of Division 5 with a 5-1 win over Draycott East Midlands 4. Sally Hughes and Julie Snowdon impressed with two victories apiece.
