Match Report

LANDMARK WIN FOR HILL!

An entertaining draw was played out when Mayflower welcomed Graves Park E. Peter Bell was the player of the match, winning all of his singles and dropping just one set to Tony Hall. Tony Hall was the pick of the Mayflower team, winning two of his matches, four setters against Fred Calvert and Andrew Wheatcroft. Chris Cooke followed suit with two wins over Andrew Wheatcroft and a tough five-setter against Fred Calvert. However, it was a landmark night for young Jamie Hill who scored his first win in the Boston League over Andrew Wheatcroft which I am sure will give him great confidence. With Mayflower 5-4 up after the singles, the Park needed a win in the doubles to secure the draw, which they duly achieved with Bell/Calvert getting the better of Hall/Cooke.
