ENTERTAINING DRAW AT MAYFLOWER!

Mayflower and Lodgers enjoyed a great evening of table-tennis played in the right spirit resulting in a fair 5-5 draw on the night. David Kime was the player of the match, winning all three of his singles, but boy did he have to work for them! Veteran Tony Hall and Chris Cooke each took an end off him but it was Wayne Grooby that gave him the biggest scare, taking him all the way to a deciding end before running out of steam at 8-11. Chris Cooke was the pick of the Mayflower players, taking two victories over Ian Gorrie and Tony Kime and with Tony Hall and and Wayne Grooby both picking up victories over the unlucky Ian Gorrie, whose scores do not reflect his performance, it left the match at 4-5 in favour of  Lodgers going into the doubles. This pitted Grooby/Cooke against father and son duo Tony and Dave Kime, but it was the Mayflower duo who won in straight sets to earn themselves a deserved 5-5 draw on the night.
