ASHBERRY FINDS HIS FOREHAND!

  Despite losing 2-8 on the night, Lodgers C made defending champions Lodgers J work hard for their points. Brett Heppenstall was, as usual, a class above, winning all three of his singles in straight ends but Chris Christoforou and Alan "The Wall" Ashberry did have to work that little bit harder. In the second match of the night Alan Ashberry had his wall breached by some big hits from Scott "The WIndmill" Sykes with Scott taking the first two ends before being pegged back by Alan in the next two. In the decider though, Scott got his forehand going and took it 11-7 to record an excellent win. Steve Allen then beat Chris Christoforou in straight sets, meaning that for a brief moment Lodgers C were in the lead! Unfortunately though, that was the last match they won, Alan played exceptionally well to beat Steve Allen in 4, discovering in the process that he could use his forehand to great effect! Andy Pocklington was very unlucky to lose to Chris Christoforou, losing 11-13 in the fifth and with Scott also losing to Chris and Andy to Alan it was all over!
