Match Report

Sibsey went into this match without No. 10 ranked “Spinmaster” Neil Snaith but managed a creditable three points against a strong Park team.

Rob Smith was in illustrious form for the Park winning his three singles without dropping a set, Rob was ably backed up by the unflappable Alan Reetham who beat both “Smiler” Smith and Mick “Five End” Ellis in three straight but seemed totally bemused by the renown quirky style of Roger Hooton losing in three straight.

Phil Brooks picked up one with his usual win over Roger but lost to Mick “Five End“ Ellis in four, Mick taking the first two ends with some aplomb but then lost the third and as is the norm “Five End” would normally lose the fourth and go to a fifth end but not on this occasion “Five End” took control and managed an excellent win in four ends!

In what was the game of the night “Smiler” and Phil both played some excellent table tennis with Phil taking the first two ends, “Smiler” though fought back with some fine attacking play to take the next three ends, the fifth being a tight 12 – 10 win.

The two left handers of “Smiler” and “Five End” teamed up for Sibsey against the seasoned doubles pair of Rob and Phil for the Park, and it was the Park pair who came out on top winning in four to give a final score of 7 – 3 to the Park.
