Bolton News 6 March

Last week the Bolton & District Table Tennis League resumed league matches after cup week. There was no surprise as top team in the Premier Division, Flixton ppong A played second-bottom Ladybridge A to gain full points winning 27-1 and now looking unassailable. Second-placed Ramsbottom Town A achieved 24-10 against their own B team assisted by nine points from Mark Ramsbottom. Third-placed Flixton ppong B had an unexpected loss to mid-table Wharton who took it 19-13 helped by nine from Barry Elliott. Fourth-placed Hilton A took advantage of their own B team lying bottom to get a maximum points win 27-4. Fifth-placed Little Lever Club A overcame eighth-placed Burning Desire 25-13 helped by nine from Ron Durose. Mid-table Coburg A managed to outgun tenth-placed Radcliffe TTC 23-15 assisted by nine from Charles Musa.

Division Two’s way out leaders Ramsbottom Town C are looking uncatchable they played Wingates with a result to come. Second-placed Polonia Club A had a tight match against third-placed Hilton D. They ran out winners 21-17 with Lukasz Serdiuk taking nine of the points. Fourth-placed Coburg B had a comfortable win against tenth-placed Hilton E 23-12 with nines from Chris Naylor and Ian Quinn. Fifth-placed Little Lever Cricket Club B suffered only having two players as they succumbed to second-bottom Farnworth Social Circle A 22-7. Mid-table Meadow Ben A had a bit of a shock losing to bottom team North West Lions 23-11 with nines coming from John Barker and Leon Smethurst. A mid-table clash had Hilton C beating Heaton Cricket Club B just below them 23-9 helped by Andy Morey on nine.

Farnworth Social Circle C are looking favourites to top Division Two. However, this week they just lost out 17-15 to Lostock Tennis Club helped by nine from Andrew Johnson. Second-placed Ramsbottom Town D just beat mid-table Hilton Hawks 23-11 with nines from James Wormwell and Tim Fields. It was a tight match between third-placed Heaton Cricket Club B and Ladybridge B one place below. Heaton just took it 18-15 despite a resisting nine from John Birchall. Ninth-placed Brass Zone beat second-bottom Farnworth Social Circle B 23-9 assisted by nine from Mike Brierley.

Farnworth Social Circle D, runaway leaders in Division Three, had an expected 27-1 win over bottom team Bolton Hindu Forum. Second-placed Polonia Club B  also triumphed 24-6 over mid-table Hilton I with Mariusz Turski and Henryk Michalowski on nines. Third-placed Meadow Ben C lost out to Albany a place below them  21-13 with Albany’s Les Welch taking nine. Fifth-placed Hilton G had a 24-11 win over their own H team in ninth place assisted by nine from Jake Raby. Mid-table Meadow Ben D pasted second-bottom Meadow Hill Tennis Club 27-2.
