In the Bolton Table Tennis League, Top Premier Division team Flixton ppong A maintained its dominance last week with a 25-5 win over Coburg A with nines from Paul Cicchelli and Stephen Scowcroft. Second-placed Ramsbottom Town A who are struggling a little compared to previous years just pipped Little Lever Cricket Club 17-16 helped by nine from Howard Whewell. Third-placed Flixton ppong B beat Ramsbottom Town B 24-7 with nines from Jordan Potts and Keith Deaville. Fourth-placed Hilton A had a full points win over second-bottom Ladybridge A 27-6. Mid-table Wharton capitalised on playing bottom team Hilton B with a 20-14 win with nines coming from Barry Elliott and Martin Wyatt. Eighth-placed Burning desire lost out to Radcliffe TTC one place below 25-12 with nines from Radcliffe’s Kristof Pinter and Gabriel Wilding.
Division One’s comfortable leaders Ramsbottom Town C just managed to beat mid-table Heaton Cricket Club A 16-15 helped by nine from Martin Holt. Second-placed Polonia Club A had a bit of a shock as fifth-placed Little Lever Cricket Club B beat them 23-12 assisted by nine from Ian Lansdale. Third-placed Hilton D trounced their own ninth-placed C team 27-6. Fourth-placed Coburg B were held to an equitable draw 18-18 by Wingates two places below them. Mid-table Meadow Ben A overcame bottom team Farnworth Social Circle A with a player short 22-11. Towards the bottom of the table, Hilton E beat North West Lions 21-15 helped by nine from Ray Isherwood.
Division Two’s Farnworth Social Circle C remain top with their result to come against mid-table Ladybridge B. Second-placed Ramsbottom Town D beat eight-placed Lostock Tennis Club 20-16 helped by nine from James Wormwell. Third-placed Hilton Top spinners lost out to Meadow Ben B one place below 24-15 assisted by ben’s nine from Rodney Hall. Fifth-placed Hilton Hawks just pipped ninth-placed Farnworth Social Circle B 17-16 assisted by nine from Peter McCormick. Bottom team Hilton F were able to beat second-bottom Brass Zone 20-14 helped by nine from Adele Spibey.
Farnworth Social Circle D head Division Three. They beat fourth-placed Albany 20-10 despite a resisting nine from Les Welch. Second-placed Polonia Club B took advantage of bottom team Bolton Hindu Forum gaining full points 27-3. Third-placed Meadow Ben C beat eighth-placed Ladybridge C 24-9 with nines from Debbie Wilson and Jack Berry. Fifth-placed Hilton G had a convincing 25-6 win over second-bottom Meadow Hill Tennis Club with nines from Malcolm Wilcock and Ian Raby. Seventh-placed Hilton I were beaten by their own H team two places below them 24-15.
