Last week most teams in the Bolton & District Table Tennis League took another break from league play while those teams without byes played the first round of the Divisional Cups.

In the Brian Gittins Cup for teams from the Premier and Division One, there were two walkovers. Ladybridge A conceded putting Ramsbottom B into the next round as did Hilton B who let Ramsbottom C through. Coburg A failed to show allowing Flixton ppong A into the next round. Coburg B had an 8.5 start but did not need it running out winners against Hilton C 351.5 – 321. North West Lions were away to Heaton Cricket Club A with both teams in Division One. North West Lions had a 45.5 start but Heaton A got the better of them winning out 367 – 347.5

More matches got played in the George Yates Shield for Divisions Two and Three teams. Junior team Hilton I from Division Three had a 93.5 start against Division Two team and past experienced cup winners Hilton Hawks. The Hawks proved too strong winning out 371 – 345.5. Division Three side Farnworth Social Circle D had a 74.5 start against Division Two side Meadow Ben B, but it was Meadow Ben B who took it 382 – 324.5. Hilton H from Division Three were up against Farnworth Social Circle B from Division Two. Hilton had a 105.5 start but Farnworth overcame them 384 – 348.5. Finally, Ladybridge C from Division Three were up against Division Two side Heaton Cricket Club B. Ladybridge had a 99.5 start but Heaton were able to run out winners 363 – 324.5
