BOLTON NEWS 5 February

With the exception of Division Three, the other Divisions in the Bolton & District Table Tennis League took a break from league matches to compete in the third round of the Warburton Cup which is played across all divisions.

Division Two’s Hilton F had a 283.5 start against Coburg from Division One. It was quite enough to gain them a win 496.5 – 406. Division Three’s Ladybridge C were also favoured by their start of 219.5 running out winners 447.5 – 390 over Division One’s Heaton Cricket Club A.

Second in Division One, Wigan TTC had 54.5 points start against the Premier’s Little Lever A. However, this was not quite enough as Little Lever won 367 – 341.5.

It was a home Derby between Division Two’s Polonia Club B and their C team from Division Three. The C team had a start of 114.5 which was not quite enough for them as the B team ran out winners 386 – 363.5.  Polonia Club’s A team were also in action against Little Lever Cricket Club B both from Division One.  Little Lever had a 39.5 start but didn’t quite need it to win 378.5 – 327.

There are three results to come and teams are reminded that matches need to be played before the next round week commencing February 18th.

Division Three continued with league matches. Top of the Division, Farnworth Social Circle C outplayed Irlam Steel Social Club 24 – 7 with nines from Ben Wyatt and Christopher Lord. In second place Meadow Hill A also had a good 23 – 8 win against Ladybridge C with John Nuttall on full nine points. Third-placed Meadow Ben C overcame Hilton H 24 – 7 with nines from Alan Hibbert and Ian Wheeldon. Fourth-placed Hilton G were also on form with a 23 – 9 win against juniors Hilton I with a nine from Martyn Rolling.
