Bolton News 10 September

The Bolton and District Table Tennis League kicked off the season last week with a somewhat shaky start mainly because of the split between two administrative systems, Table Tennis England and Table Tennis 365 which previously displayed and processed results on their behalf. Now there were two separate fees to be paid instead of just one. Some leagues were starting later than others so some players had paid or been paid for and some hadn’t. It turned out that it does not matter if the fee is paid before or after the match, but they then had to upgrade the software to cope with that situation. This resulted in some match cards appearing later than expected. This may settle down in time.

Results available in the Premier Division had Ramsbottom Town A, leaders last year, just beating Flixton ppong B 20 – 16. Newly promoted Burning Desire beat Hilton B 26 – 11 with maximum nines from Stuart Horn and Fred Turbon. Wharton beat Little Lever Club A 24 – 9 with nines from Barry Elliott and Martin Wyatt. The match between Ramsbottom Town B and Flixton ppong A is awaiting a Committee decision.
