Bolton News 2 October

It was announced in the middle of last week that the Premier Division’s Ramsbottom C team was now unsustainable and has now been withdrawn from the league. Team Captain Bryan Edwards has also fallen and broken his hip and had a replacement immediately. We wish him a progressive recovery.
Top team Flixton Cricket Club A ploughed on with a 27-3 trouncing of promoted Hilton B who have yet to win a match, while Ramsbottom Town A had a derby with their own B team coming out on top 24-6 with nines from Michael Moir and Richard Lightowler. The remaining matches were more balanced with Wharton overcoming Ladybridge A 22-11 assisted by nines from Barry Elliott and Jacob-Reilly Cooper. Nomads beat Hilton A 25-11 with a nine from Charles Musa and Little Lever Cricket Club A beat Flixton Cricket Club B 19-12 helped by nine from Graham Jeffries.

In Division 1 the two front-runners both had wins, but unlike previous weeks they did not have it all their own way. Burning Desire won 22-15 over Hilton C and new team Wigan TTC had a 19-13 win over Coburg with Daniel Watkinson and Tony Whitney both amassing nines. Farnworth SC A beat Meadow Ben A 20-11 with the expected nine from John Hutchinson and a nine from Iain Lindley.

In Division Two top team Bolton TTC had their expected win 19-15 over Hilton Top Spinners assisted by a nine from Peter McCormick. Second-placed St. Paul’s Peel had their fourth win of the season over Polonia Club B 20-12 with the expected nine from Lee Devenport. Third-placed Hilton E managed a win over Ladybridge B despite a resisting nine from John Birchall. Newly promoted Walkden Methodists have yet to make their mark and went down 27-2 to Meadow Ben B. Farnworth Social Circle B had a 22-9 win over a two-man Brasszone. Heaton Cricket Club B had their third win beating Hilton F 21-13 with nines from Martin Hulton and David Jones.

In Division Three, top of the division and unbeaten Meadow Ben C were victors over Albany 25-11 with a nine from Ian Wheeldon. Second-placed Polonia Club C suffered their first loss against Meadow Ben D 22-12 with Meadow Ben’s Neil Cowburn on nine. Third-placed Farnworth Social Circle C had an 18-10 win over Ladybridge C assisted by nines from Christopher Lord and Pete Walker, while Farnworth Social Circle D went down 23-10 to Irlam Steel Social Club who had nines from David Yates and Matt Hood. Hilton H beat their own junior Hilton I team 26-10 assisted by a nine from Wes Jones while Hilton G completely annihilated a two-man Meadow Hill B 27-1.
