Bolton News 16 October

Last week we had a home Derby at Flixton Cricket Club in the Premier Division of the Bolton Table Tennis League. Top of the table Flixton A team took on the B team and had the expected win 23-13 assisted by nine points from Tony Worthington. In second place, with a match in hand, Ramsbottom Town A also capitalised playing second from the bottom Ladybridge A winning 26- 5 with nines from Michael Moir and Mark Ramsbottom. B team player Howard Whewell also made an appearance winning eight, however, at the time of the match the B team was above the A team. They have opted to retain him in the A team rather than forfeit his wins. Mid-table teams Wharton and Hilton A also met with Wharton just edging it 21-19 with a nine from Barry Elliott and Radcliffe Cricket Club beat Little Lever Cricket Club A 22-16 with nine points from Brian Hallsworth.

In Division One, top team Burning Desire continued their Premier comeback trail beating third-placed Polonia Club A 21-15 despite a resisting nine from Lukasz Serdiuk. Fourth-placed Coburg beat Hilton D 22-14 with a nine from Derek Watmough. Fifth-placed Ramsbottom Town D has a good 22-8 win over Wingates with nines from Martin Holt and Robert Bent. Heaton Cricket Club A beat Farnworth Social Circle A 18-15 despite the expected resisting nine from John Hutchinson.

Now top of Division Two, Hilton E beat now second place Bolton TTC 25-8 with nines from Matthew Kennedy and Jei Makino. Third-placed St. Paul’s Peel lost out 16-14 to eighth-placed Brasszone thanks to a nine from Phil Petts. Fourth place Meadow Ben B just edged it 18-17 over Polonia Club B despite a resisting nine from Vojtech Sanc. Ladybridge B beat Farnworth Social Circle B 23-7 with a nine from John Birchall. Finally, bottom team Walkden Methodists, promoted from Division Three, broke their duck with their first win of the season 19-16 over second from the bottom Hilton F assisted by a nine from Carl Bennett.

Meadow Ben C, top of Division Three just lost out 17-16 to fourth-placed Irlam Steel Social Club with Irlam’s David Yates getting a nine. Just behind them Meadow Ben D beat juniors Hilton I 25-7 assisted by nines from Alan Weall and Philip Calvert. Third-placed Polonia Club C beat second from the bottom Ladybridge C 22-13. In the middle of the table. Meadow Hill A beat Farnworth Social Circle D 22-11 with nines from Bob Woodcock and new signing John Nuttall. Hilton G beat their H team 20-18 with a nine from Dimitar Petrov. Albany had an expected win over bottom team Meadow Hill B 25-5 with Stephen Lawless and Paul Hankinson on nines.
