BOLTON NEWS 19 September

(Note. Due to a Cricket Cup Final, this had to go in on Wednesday. Should be Tuesday from now on)

In the second week of play in the Bolton and District Table Tennis League, the Premier Division’s Ramsbottom Town A had a comfortable win over Wharton 21-13 with a maximum nine points from Michael Moir. Ramsbottom B just beat Flixton Cricket Club A 19-15 largely due to nine points from last year’s new acquisition Ryan Choong. Hilton A had a good win over Radcliffe Cricket Club 22-12 with nines from Robert Hall and Andrew Michnowiec. However, newly promoted Hilton B went down 23-8 to Little Lever Cricket Club A with Graham Jeffries and Ron Durose on top scores. Nomads overshadowed Ladybridge A 24-5 with nines from Kyan Chin and Charles Musa. Due to a rather late discovery that the Ramsbottom room had been taken over for a music festival, the C team’s match against Flixton Cricket Club B would have to be postponed into one of the following three weeks. If unplayed, the result will be decided in Committee.

In Division One, Burning desire pressed on for a return to the Premier division with a 25-9 win over Ramsbottom Town D with nines from Brett Haslam and Ben Armstrong. New team Wigan TTC made their presence felt by beating Heaton Cricket Club A 24-4 with nines from Paul Clark and Daniel Watkinson. Farnworth Social Circle A beat a two-man Wingates 24-7. Closer results had Coburg overcoming Hilton C 23-12 with nines from Chris Naylor and Derek Watmough and Meadow Ben A beat Hilton D 20-12 helped by a nine from Stephen Jones. Newly promoted Polonia Club A had their second win 20-17 over Little Lever Cricket Club B helped by nine from Lukasz Serdiuk.

Apart from Division Two’s Bolton TTC who beat Hilton F with a maximum 27-4 score, the other results were quite close. Hilton E beat Brasszone 22-11 despite a resisting nine from Jim Bolton. Heaton Cricket Club B had a 22-13 win over newly promoted Walkden Methodists assisted by a nine from David Jones. New team Polonia Club B beat Farnworth Social Circle B 20-13 with a nine from Vojtech Sanc.
