Bolton News 25 January

Last week we had what is probably the busiest week in Cup matches with both the Warburton Cup for all divisions third round taking place together with the second round of the Divisional Cups. The Brian Gittins Cup for the Premier and Division One and the George Yates Trophy for Divisions Two and Three. As a result some teams get doubled up and matches have to be rearranged for a future date.

Firstly, in the Warburton Cup, in the top half Radcliffe Cricket Club were unable to raise a team and gave Nomads B a walk-over into the next round. Nomads will now be at home to either Farnworth SC A or BRASS B. In the bottom half of the draw. Ladybridge C had a 44.5 start but were unable to capitalise on it going down to Irlam Steel 374-320.5. Irlam will now be at home to either Farnworth SC C or Bolton TTC B. St. Pauls Peel made full use of their 51.5 start to just beat Heaton C 353.5 – 349 and will now be away to Farnworth SC B who did not need their 30.5 start as they beat Meadow Ben C 390.5 – 306.

In the Brian Gittins Divisional Cup, Flixton A could not raise a team and gave Meadow Ben A a walk-over to the next round. They will now be at home to Little Lever A who overcame the 65.5 start of Burning desire to win out 371 – 341.5. Ramsbottom Town B had a start of 107.5 but were unable to quite get the better of Wharton who won 398 -377.5. They will now be at home to the winners of Little Lever B or Ladybridge A. Farnworth SC A made full use of their 51.5 start to win over Nomads B 347.5 – 336. They will now be away to BRASS A who overcame Coburg B’s 30.5 start to win 387-331.5.

In the George Yates Divisional Cup Farnworth SC B made use of their 121.5 start to beat Heaton B 433.5 – 363. They will now be at home to BRASS B who did not need their 44.5 start as they ran out winners against Hilton E 375.5 – 220. Neither did Ladybridge B need their 30.5 start against Meadow Ben B as they also ran out winners 380.5 – 338. They will now be at home to the winners of Farnworth SC C or Bolton TTC A. Perhaps the closest match of the week was between Top Spinners and Boyzone. The Spinners with a start of 30.5 just managed to overcome Boyzone 376.5 – 376. I’d like to bet there was some recounting went on there. They will now be away to either Hilton F or Heaton C.

The next round for all the above will be week Commencing 20th February.
