Bolton News 19th October

Recently the top teams in the Premier Division have been taking advantage of lower teams to amass their points. However, as the first half of the season comes to an end the big guns will start to face each other and the first such clashs took place last week between second placed Ramsbottom Cricket Club and third placed Radcliffe Cricket Club a match that Ramsbottom took 27-3.

Flixton A had an expected win over their own B team 25-13 with a nine points from Flixton A’s Stephen Scowcroft. There were three maximum points wins with Ladybridge A taking  advantage of Coburg A winning 27-9 as did Hilton A had a 27-10 win against Heaton CC A and Ramsbottom Town A beat Wharton 27-7.

In Division One  top team Burning Desire marched on with a 21-14 win against BRASS A aided by a nine-points for Dennis Collier and second placed Acre Bottom had a 21-8 win over Coburg B with Brain Clements taking 9 points for Acre Bottom. Andrew Morey’s nine points helped Hilton C overcome Little Lever CC B 20-14. Nomads B outplayed Meadow Ben A  24-9 with a nine from Naz Ahmed of Nomads. Wingates won against Farnworth SC A despite a resisting nine-points from Farnworth’s John Hutchinson.

In Division Two there was a close encounter between BRASS B and Hilton F with BRASS just taking it 17-15. Hilton D are pulling themselves up the division by their bootstraps with a 26-7 win over Heaton CC C with Roy Alti and Matthew Fishwick both achieving maximum nine-points results. Meadow Ben B had a good win over Boyzone 20-15 with Mike Heaton on nine-points and also Steven Robertson who has been a continual sub from the C team and will now be joining them permanently. Ladybridge B overcame Top Spinners 23-15 with John Birchall and Brian Greenhalgh on maximum points. Top of the table Heaton CC B had a 19-14 win over Hilton F with David Hall on maximum points.

In Division Three we had some of the closest matches of the season in one division. There was a 17-17 tie between Bolton TTC B and Ramsbottom Town C with a nine from Ramsbottom’s Ian Lloyd. Hilton G just pipped St. Paul’s Peel 19-18 and Polonia Club just edged it against  Meadow Ben  C  18-16. Farnworth SC B’s Martyn Garnett had a nine for Farnworth SC B beating Walkden Methodists 23-10.

Division Four’s relegated Meadow Hill A in second place moved on with a 22-9 win over juniors Hilton J with maximum points from Roy Caswell. Meadow Hill B did not fair as well, losing to Irlam Steel SC with David Yates and Matthew Hood on maximum points. There were close matches between Albany with their first win of the season 18-14 against Ladybridge C with Albany’s Stephen Lawless on nine-points and Hilton H just taking it 18-17 against Meadow Ben D despite a nine-points from Meadow Ben’s Neil Cowburn.
