Division one’s second placed team Key Centre A were made to work hard for a 20-17 away win against Ensleigh A. Brent Pollard was the star man for the visitors with a maximum and further points were added by Grahame Harbour (5) and Richard Sturman (3). In reply, Ian Clark and Olly Newton both earned 6 points for Ensleigh, with Ping Zhang adding three.

The B and C teams met at Yatton Keynell with the B’s coming out on top 24-17 despite Alasdair Hulbert’s maximum and 3 points apiece from Jeff Flynn and Wilf Adams for the C team. Adam Dawes top scored for the victors with 8 points, while Andy Purkiss and Richard Terrell carded 7 and 6 points respectively.

Bathford and Batheaston met each other in two division 2 fixtures. Second placed Bathford D defeated well-placed Batheaston A 22-13 at Bathford thanks to a full 9 points from Cal Levitt, six from Russell Cole and four from Julian Kashdan-Brown. Gary Sartain led the visitors’ challenge with 7 points, and Dennis Townsend (3) and Richard Cotton were also on the scoresheet.

In the match at Batheaston the home club’s B team edged a tight contest against Bathford E by 20 points to 18. Phil Gentle took the plaudits for the home side with maximum points, and Chris Sharpe (5) and Mel Henry (3) also contributed. Mark Davis scored 8 points for Bathford, with John (7) and Evan Holdimg also registering.

Premier division title challengers Bath Invaders A were pushed all the way by Oldfield A at Monkton Combe, but came away with a 20-18 win. Julian Elsbury top-scored for the Invaders with 8 points, and Ray Hall (5) and Ian Maggs (4) supplemented his contribution before the doubles’ points clinched the win. Alan Champneys’ seven points was best for the hosts, for whom Madhusudana Ramakrishna (6) and Cec Davis (5) completed the scoring.

Yatton Keynell A comfortably overcame bottom team Bitton 29-9 at home with Jamie Smith and Ray Powell claiming maximums and Steve Richardson a further 8 points. Bitton replied with points from Alan Papier (5) Chris Toft (2) and Martin Moore.
