Yatton Keynell B gained a slight advantage over Oldfield D in the battle for the runners-up spot in Division 1, by defeating their rivals 6-4 at their Monkton Combe home. Steve Richardson and Mark Terrell both registered braces for the visitors, and Richard Terrell added a further point. Mervyn George (2), Brian Neathey, and Mike Newton won games for the home side.

Batheaston A and Bathford C shared the points, keeping the former at the bottom and the latter just clear of the relegation places. Dennis Townsend and Richard Cotton both claimed pairs for the hosts, as did Russell Cole and Richard Wickham for the away team, whose other point came from Richard Wallis.

In the Division 2 promotion derby Yatton Keynell C beat their C team counterparts 7-3 to give themselves a clear advantage in the race for a top two place. Lewis Payne was once again the match winner with a treble for the C team, father Tony added another two as did Edward Lea. The D team could only add victory in the doubles to Adam Dawes’ brace.

Batheaston B scored a useful 6-4 away win against Bath Civil Service leaving the home team second from bottom. Phil Gentle took the honours for the villagers with a hat-trick and Norman Thomas won a further two games. Bob Rice (2) Jeff Skelton and Dave Hogg replied for the hosts.

Chippenham A are within touching distance of retaining the Premier Division title after beating two-man Oldfield A 8-2 at home. Terry Parkins and Gary Baldwin both carded maximums for the champions. Bob Hindle and Alan Champneys shared the points for the visitors, who remain well placed for the runners-up position despite the heavy defeat.

Frys went down 7-3 at home to Bathford A, leaving themselves in the relegation places and their visitors still competing for second place. Albert Bolhuis took the plaudits for Bathford with a treble, and further games were won by Ray Bennett (2) and Steve Husbands. Emmanuel Le Boulbar (2) and Fred Martin responded for Frys.
