Chronicle Report 3rd Dec 2015

Lowly Yatton Keynell C pulled off the shock result of the week in Division One by holding title contenders Chippenham C to an away draw, even though the hosts were only able to field two players. The result was entirely due to an excellent maximum from in-form Adam Dawes, who beat both Paul Vincent and Bryan Taylor – the latter two winning braces of their own and combining to win the doubles contest for the hosts.

Oldfield D were beaten 6-4 at home by Bathford B. Colin Thomas was the man of the match with a hat-trick for the victors, whose other points came from Richard Gaisford (2) and Jules Truss. Greg Burridge (2) and Brian Neathey won games for Oldfield.

One of the promotion contenders in Division Two, Bathford D, also suffered a surprise set back, losing 8-2 at Keynsham against Key Centre B. Dave Carter and Brent Pollard both claimed trebles for the hosts, with Mark Tanner also winning a game. Russell Cole and Julian Kashdan-Brown scored a point each for the away team.

Yatton-Keynell had a narrow 6-4 success at home to Bear Flat B, for whom Trevor Floyd (2) and Dave Naismith registered wins. Jon Freeman took the honours for Yatton with a maximum, and further wins from Ben Sage (2) and Andy Delaney made up their tally.

In the Premier Division, Oldfield B bounced back from a heavy defeat in their last league outing to win 7-3 away to Radstock Working Men’s Club A. Bill Guibarra led the way for the visitors with a hat-trick, and there were further wins from Dennis Coombe (2) and Dave Ashley. Derek Landricombe (2) and Chris Bennett responded for the home team.

Oldfield C also won by the same score-line at home to Bristol Civil Service, whose points were won by Steve Tainton (2) and Mark Linlocke. Paul Redman starred for the victors with a treble, and further games were won by Jim Stevens (2) and Mark Kerslake.
