Chronicle Report 22nd Oct 2015

Bear Flat A and Bathford D, two of the teams likely to be challenging at the top end of Division 2, fought out a 5-5 draw at Bear Flat’s St John’s school base. The home team’s Paul Green was man of the match with a hat-trick and he was aided by a single win from Pete Gibbs. The visitors’ points were scored by Russell Cole (2) Richard Wickham (2) and Julian Kashdan-Brown.

The Bathford E team fared less well, going down 8-2 to Key Centre B at Bathford, with Mark Davis and John Holding scoring their points. Brent Pollard starred for Key Centre with a maximum, and pairs were carded by Dermot Sanders and Sue Ruse.

In the Premier Division, reigning champions Chippenham A recorded another convincing win, only dropping a single point to Yatton Keynell A. That point was claimed by Shaun Eagles, who beat Roy Cary. Gary Baldwin and Jerry Musselwhite were undefeated for Chippenham.

Martyn Le Butt’s treble was the deciding factor as Key Centre were 6-4 victors, away to Bathford A. Matthew Rowlands (2) and Peter Galea added the away team’s other points, with Albert Bolhuis (2) and Ray Bennett winning games for the hosts.

The two front-runners maintained their form in Division 1. Relegated Chippenham C registered an impressive 7-3 away win against last year’s runners-up side – Yatton Keynell B, with Bryan Taylor carding another maximum. Mark Plowright also claimed a brace and Andrew Perham added a further win for the victors, whilst Jeff Flynn and Steve Richardson replied for Yatton.

Bath Invaders also recorded another emphatic success, beating the other relegated team (Frys) 8-2 at home. Guy Courtney took the plaudits for the hosts with a treble, and there were further braces from Martyn Millard and Paul Jeffery. Chris Toft and Fred Martin replied with a game each for the visitors.
