Rob Burton was undoubted player of the match; his ultra consistent defending was just too much for the opposition players to overcome him. Dave Calleja managed to win in straight sets over Pat White, Dave was unlucky in his five-set battle with Russ Bright, who prevailed 12/10 in the final game. Our other player Dave Carter battled hard and at times hit some great winners, but the visiting team’s players were just too strong, however testament to a player 87 years young, who is still difficult to beat. For Stanford, Pete Weatherall and Russ Bright both scored braces and teamed to take the doubles in five sets, giving them their 6 – 4 victory.
