Barrow Vets 7 Carlisle Vets 2

Barrow travelled up the M6 last Friday in their first encounter with Carlisle for many, many years and came away with a credible 7-2 victory. The match took place at the recently opened Table Tennis Centre in the Methodist Hall where the local supporters turned out in force to cheer their team on. Jonny Lowes and Gareth Brunton were the stars of the show for Barrow winning all their games including impressive victories against 1988 county singles champion Stephen Temple.

All players and supporters retired to the local pub after the match where memories of previous encounters from 30 years ago were fondly remembered. A return fixture in the very near future is on the cards and may also include a team from Dumfries so watch this space.
