Academy Tournament Report

Friday 24th November marked the first junior graded tournament of this season with players competing across 5 categories of New Player, Beginner, Improver, Intermediate & League Players.

The tournaments form a vital part of the leagues ongoing commitment to bring new players into the game whilst providing a great opportunity for players to develop and test themselves against players from other clubs.

The New Players category enabled a group of recent players to the game to enjoy some fun games whilst taking in the tournament atmosphere overseen by our English Table Tennis Association level 3 professional coach Eddie Roofe.

The remaining categories took the form of individual competition with players competing in group stages before progressing into knockout matches to decide their finishing position in the tournament overall.

Standard across all players and competition categories continues to progress greatly with players committed to attending weekly coaching sessions and many taking part in our development academy held every Friday evening at BGN school.

The competition was played out with real commitment and will to win but in brilliant sportsmanship all of which are a hallmarks of the sport and the local table tennis commitment.

Each category saw a number of very close matches with players from a number of the local clubs being represented in the final competition stages. Please see attached a final pack confirming competition results along with a range of pictures from the event.

We would like to congratulate every player for the standard of their play and conduct throughout the event and look forward to welcoming to future events and into the Local league structure over the months and years to come.
