It is with great sadness that I have to let you all know about the passing of Pete Eggleton, a player from our past. Pete played for many years in Aylesbury and was a loyal servant to his club, latterly Bucks CC. I remember having many battles, most of which I lost.
I am sure many of you will remember him and support my condolences to his family.
An Elmhurst and Quarrendon stalwart, Ken Walton, has sadly passed away recently. We are all very sad to hear this news. Ken was a gentleman, an all round good person and we will all miss him.
It is again with great sadness that we report the passing of John Witney, a Haddenham stalwart who has supported the Aylesbury and District Table Tennis League over the past 50 years. He was a keen and enthusiastic Table Tennis Player ever willing to help grass root clubs to grow and prosper. John left us peacefully on 23 August whilst in the care of the Florence Nightingale Hospice.
Sad news has arrived that Brian Savage and Dave Spragg, both Aylesbury stalwarts from years gone by have recently passed away. Brian was a top division player who won the mens doubles in 1999 with Ken Philipson and the mixed doubles with his daughter the previous year. He was a prime motivator for table tennis receiving the Cyril Thorne Trophy in 2002 for his contribution to the Aylesbury League. Dave was also a top player appearing for Negretti and Zambra, then Aylesbury Sports and latterly Haddenham Table Tennis Club. Both players will be missed by us all and we extend our condolences to their families.
