Division 3: Postling B top at half way

With the second half of the season at about the halfway stage, Postling B are in top spot having lost only one match to Ruckinge D, who are trailing in 3rd but with two matches in hand. Little Chart Posties are in second spot just one point ahead of Ruckinge D but have played one more match than them.

Ruckinge E’s Captain Alan White and Paul Hickman took a game apiece and a hard fought doubles against leaders Postling B for a 3-7 result. POM Denise Glenister won all 3 of her games but lost with Brian Cook in the doubles.

Little Chart Posties beat Challock D with Joe Morgan picking up 2 in an 8-2 defeat, and they then followed that up with a 10-0 victory against Ruckinge G. Their next match against Ruckinge F saw the first defeat of Chris Penning when POM John Jarvis won in three close games and completing a 6-4 scoreline.

Challock D are finding it tough going having yet to chalk up a win, and although now strengthened by Joe Morgan joining the team, it may be too late to avoid relegation.

Ruckinge G have recorded a couple of wins in this period, picking themselves up from the 10-0 defeat by the Posties, and getting a surprise 7-3 win over Clubmates Ruckinge E. Although Captain Alan White was POM taking all three of his, G’s Helen Mattock gave an excellent performance taking 2 of her games in 3 sets and managing to be the only one to take a set from Alan White. This win was followed up with a 6-4 win against Challock D making them on equal points with Ruckinge F who have a game in hand. MUCH to be done to avoid the drop at the end of the season !

This week also marks the first opening of the Repton Connect Table Tennis Club, running every Thursday from 8pm-10pm initially, at the Repton Connect Community Centre.  Open to all, and if successful there is plenty of room for growth.
