The match of the week in Division 1 saw two of the early leaders clash with Hanson

Cougars just defeating John Hanson ‘A’ 22 – 15. Cougars Andy Barnes won his three sets, with Nick George getting two and surprisingly Tony Brown only managing one. Peter Henderson did best for John Hanson ‘A’ winning two and Dan Geary got one. Dan was unlucky not to win two when he just lost to Andy 7-11, 12-10, 11-3, 7-11, 11-6.

Hanson Jaguars claimed a 27 – 8 victory over Hanson Panthers. Jaguars scored with three sets each from Trevor Whitelock and Clive Hacker, with another two from Graham Audin. Karl Jones won the only set for Panthers, but Manish Chitnis who has not played for a few years ran Graham very close before losing 7-11, 7-11, 11-5, 11-6, 11-3.

3D’s suffered their heaviest defeat with a 2 – 30 result against Hanson Pumas. Richard Fettes, Eddie and Justin Shoemark all won their three sets for Pumas.  


 The top of the table clash in Division 2 was between Hanson Pidgeons and Hanson Lions and after drawing 5-5 in sets, the match finished 19 – 20. Pidgeons had captain Nathan Shears to thank as he won all his three sets, but only just as Mike Bonarius (Lions) took him to 8-11, 11-8, 11-8, 6-11, 11-8. Darren Walkom (Lions) had an excellent hard fought win over Adam Shears (Pidgeons) 3-11, 11-6, 11-7, 8-11, 8-11. Daniel Abbott (Pidgeons) also recorded an excellent win against Ross Walkom 6-11, 11-9, 2-11, 11-6, 11-8. With the doubles just going to Lions 9-11, 6-11, 12-10, 11-9, 8-11 this gave them the extra point.

The youngsters of Hanson Crows came up against the slightly more battle hardened youngsters from Test Valley Penguins and despite some close games, unfortunately went down 10 – 27. Penguins deserved their win with three each from Annabelle Anderson and Alex Dennis and two from Oli Middleton. Jack Tucker managed to win one for Crows and with Ben Howlett recorded a 9-11, 6-11, 11-9, 12-10, 11-1 victory in the doubles.

Hanson Eagles took on Enham which resulted in a 26 – 12 victory. For Eagles James Clark won three sets, Yannick Rachel two and Danial Arthur one. Pete Farmer (Enham) won two and Roy Horner one, but Tom Farmer was unlucky to lose to James 11-2, 11-2, 14-16, 10-12, 11-8.

Hanson Falcons took on Hanson Vultures and managed a 29 – 5 win. Brian Fox continued his 100% record winning his three, with Simon Prosser also getting three and Val Fox two. The hero for Vultures was Archie Anderson who defeated Val 11-7, 6-11, 11-3, 9-11, 9-11.

Hanson Vultures surprisingly went down 12 – 26 to a strengthened Hanson Crows, for whom Matt Allott won three, with Ben Howlett and Jack Branagan getting two each. Jessie Yi in her first match back for a couple of years did well and won two sets for Vultures.
