A top of the table clash in Division 2 saw 3D’s decisively beat Hanson Lions 29 – 5. 3D’s put out their strongest team which resulted in three sets each for Steve Harris and Nicky Downs, with Marie Dyke winning two. Lions did not put out their strongest team and only Jill Cook was successful, when she had a very good 8-11, 11-3, 9-11, 11-3, 6-11 win over Marie.
Hanson Kestrals lost to Hanson Pidgeons 14 – 19, which was a shame for in form Mark Pettengell, who won all his three sets. William Cooper was the only other winner for Kestrals when he beat a below par Simon Przeklasa in three straight games. Nathan and Adam Shears both won two each for Pidgeons, with Simon managing just the one.
Enham recorded a convincing 27 – 8 win over the two players of Hanson Falcons. Pete Farmer and Roy Horner both managed two for Enham, whilst Patrick Baker only got one. Simon Prosser (Falcons) won one, but Val Fox was not so lucky, losing out to Patrick 11-5, 9-11, 11-4, 8-11, 11-5.
In Division 1 Figheldean went down heavily to the top side Hanson Pumas 7 – 30. Justin Shoemark, Andy Whitcher and Richard Fettes all won three for Pumas. However, Lionel Coles (Figheldean) put up stiff resistance taking both Justin and Andy to five games. Phil Cook also tested Justin, before losing 11-9, 3-11, 9-11, 11-5, 7-11.
Hanson Cougars narrowly lost this match on the doubles, going down 17 – 19 to Hanson ‘A’. This match result was revenge for the ‘A’ team who suffered a 2 point loss to Cougars earlier in the season. Andy Barnes was again the hero for Cougars in winning his three sets, with Nick George getting one, although he ran Peter Henderson (Hanson ‘A’) close before losing 5-11, 11-8, 13-11, 9-11, 6-11. Peter won two, as did Steve Rollason who played very well, but Dan Geary unluckily only managed one. The doubles saw Andy & Nick lose to Dan & Pete 11-7, 7-11, 11-8, 10-12, 7-11, which clinched the match for the ‘A’ team and also gave them revenge for the previous loss in the doubles.
Hanson Panthers lost 10 – 29 to the form side of Hanson Leopards. Dave Broomfield was the only winner for Panthers when he defeated James Clark 11-9, 8-11, 11-13, 11-5, 9-11 and was unlucky to lose to Rob Macey 12-10, 6-11, 6-11, 11-7, 8-11. Peter Dyson (Leopards) and Rob Macey both won their three sets, whilst James Clark won two.
