Andover Advertiser Report 02-03-15

The top match this week in Division 1 was between Hanson ‘A’ and Hanson Pumas, which resulted in a very close 19 – 20 win for Pumas. Peter Henderson (Hanson ‘A’) won two, Josh White & Dan Geary one each, but Richard Fettes was the star winning all three sets for Pumas, with Ray & Shaun Carver getting one each. The doubles went to Hanson ‘A’ when Dan & Peter beat Richard & Ray in five games 11-8, 11-8, 5-11, 6-11, 11-6. The clash of the Titans resulted in Peter losing to Richard 11-13, 18-16, 8-11, 5-11. 

Hanson Jaguars went down 12 – 25 to Figheldean for whom Lionel Coles won three sets, supported by Phil Cook and Brian Cook with two each. Trevor Whitelock (Jaguars) won two although only just 5-11, 12-10, 9-11, 11-9, 11-5 against Phil Cook. The doubles went to Jaguars when Trevor & Graham Audin beat Phil & Lionel 12-14, 11-9, 10-12, 12-10, 11-5.

 

The closest match in Division 2 resulted in Hanson Falcons losing 19 – 21 to Hanson Pidgeons. Falcons had Jason Cullip and Sarah Medland to thank with two sets each, but an excellent performance by Simon Przeklasa (Pidgeons) who won all his three, supported by Nathan & Adam Shears with one each. Simon just managed to hold off Jason in five games 11-9, 7-11, 7-11, 11-8, 8-11. Jason & Sarah teamed up in the doubles but were beaten by Nathan & Adam 11-4, 12-14, 8-11, 11-6, 3-11.  

Enham and 3D’s produced a 10 - 22 result. Peter Farmer and Roy Horner (Enham) won one each and also surprisingly took the doubles. Two wins each for Marie Dyke (3D’s) and Nicky Downs recorded the same sets won as last season.

Hanson Lions beat Hanson Hawks 24 – 13. Karl Jones (Lions) won three, with Jonny Macey and Darren Walkom winning two each. Adam Lockington (Hawks) surprisingly only won one as did Blade Medland. Jonny had to work hard for his wins by defeating Adam 11-8, 9-11, 11-5, 4-11, 11-7 and then Matt Selwood 11-5, 8-11, 12-10, 9-11, 11-8. Lions took the doubles with Jonny & Darren winning 11-6, 11-5, 1-11, 8-11, 11-9 against Adam & Blade.

Test Valley ‘A’ not surprisingly lost 0 – 30 to top of the table Hanson Panthers. Unfortunately for Test Valley, Panthers are too good for this division and won comfortably with Dave Broomfield, Andy Farmer and James Taylor all taking three as well as the doubles.
