Tigers look like the team to beat in Division 1 again this season after their 10 – 25 defeat of Figheldean. Andy Snellgrove and Malcolm Cummins recorded a maximum three sets each for Tigers, whilst Phil Cook and Lionel Coles managed one each for Figheldean. The doubles was the only set to go to five games when Lionel & Julie Dean lost to Malcolm & Jerry Holt 11-8, 9-11, 12-10, 4-11, 10-12.

Hanson Cougars suffered a huge defeat when losing to Hanson Pumas 8 – 25. In a fairly one sided affair even Andy Barnes (Cougars) could only manage one, as did Chris Stockdale, but Richard Fettes (Pumas) and Andy Whitcher both won three each.

Hanson Jaguars had an excellent 28 – 11 win over Hanson Leopards, thanks to three from both Sue Purton (although two sets went to five games) and reserve Clive Hacker. Surprisingly Trevor Whitelock (Jaguars) only won two due to being defeated by Peter Dyson who was the only winner for Leopards.

Hanson Pidgeons recorded a good 24 – 14 win in Division 2 over Hanson Kestrals (at full strength for the first time). The star for Pidgeons was their captain Nathan Shears with three, but he was only just able to defeat Kestrals new player Mark Pettengell 11-8, 7-11, 14-12, 8-11, 11-9. Adam Shears won two for Pidgeons as did Mark for Kestrals, but these two had a hard fought set before Mark emerged victorious 12-10, 6-11, 12-10, 7-11, 7-11.

A clash of two of the division leaders, Hanson Lions and 3D’s resulted in a 16 – 21 win for 3D’s. Nicky Downs (3D’s) was the only player to remain unbeaten, but was ably supported by Marie Dyke who won two. Darren Walkom (Lions) won two with Mike Bonarius and Jill Cook winning one each. Marie had a ding dong battle with Darren before going down 11-8, 3-11, 9-11, 11-9, 11-8.

Hanson Falcons lost a close match against Enham 16 – 24. Pete Farmer (Enham) won all three, with Roy Horner getting two and Patrick Baker one. Jason Cullip (Falcons) won two thanks to winning a war of attrition against Roy 13-11, 5-11, 13-11, 2-11, 12-10 and was unlucky to suffer defeat at the hands of Pete 11-13, 14-12, 11-9, 11-13, 5-11. However Falcons had a good win in the doubles, when Jason & Val Fox defeated Pete & Roy 8-11, 11-9, 3-11, 11-6, 11-8.
