Division 2 saw the complexity of the scoring system when the two man (again) of Hanson Kestrals were defeated by Hanson Falcons 21 – 18, but claimed a moral victory having won 4-6 in sets. Kestrals excellent result was due to three from William Cooper (although he had to work hard against Jason Cullip) and three from young Daniel Abbott, which was an outstanding result for him against more experienced opponents. Daniel had a hard opening set against Simon Prosser but came through 5-11, 11-5, 4-11, 11-9, 6-11. At the end of the evening he had a drawn out battle with Jason before clinching victory 6-11, 7-11, 11-8, 11-6, 3-11.
Enham lost to 3D’s 11 – 22, with Marie Dyke and Nicky Downs both winning three each. For Enham, Patrick Baker, Pete Farmer and Roy Horner all won one each.
Hanson Lions defeated Test Valley ‘A’ 30 – 0 with Jill Cook, Darren & Ross Walkom all winning three sets each. Test Valley youngsters played their hearts out and will only improve as the season progresses.
In Division 1 Hanson Panthers were well mauled by Tigers losing 0 – 30. Panthers having come up from Div 2 have been unfortunate in playing the top two teams in their first two matches. Tigers recorded three sets each (three straight) by Malcolm Cummins, Andy Snellgrove and stand-in Tony Brown.
Hanson Jaguars lost 5 – 27 to Hanson Pumas for whom Andy Whitcher and Richard Fettes won all three. Justin Shoemark (Pumas) won two, but lost to Trevor Whitelock 11-4, 12-10, 17-15.
