"Ping Pong", otherwise known as "sandpaper table tennis" returns to old fashion equipment, using sandpaper on your bat instead of grippy, flexible rubber. There has been a recent increase in the popularity of Ping Pong due to Sky Sport's coverage of the World Championships of Ping Pong, held at London's Alexandra Palace every year since 2015. In January 2019 Scotland was represented by Gavin Rumgay and Ian Johnston.

This year’s edition of Scottish Ping Pong Tournament (and WCPP qualifier) will be held at Ward Road Gym in Dundee on Saturday 21st December 2019.  For more information please see the website:

Link to entry form is provided below the article as well as sandpaper table tennis information leaflet.  There are a certain number of guaranteed places at Scottish Qualifier from previous and local events, with the remaining places available on a first-come, first-served basis. ADTTA plan to organise a local sandpaper bat qualifier around the end of November where 4 top players will earn a spot at WCPP Scottish Qualifier. But why wait if you can sign up right away as number of players from Aberdeen already did. To do so, please get in touch with event organiser Juliet Johnston at pingpong@johnstonfamily.me.uk.
