North Open 2016-17 - Results File.xlsx

The ADTTA Committee would like to express their sincere thanks to players and families who attended the North Open on Saturday 17 September 2016 for their patience and understanding in the immediate run up to, and on the day of the event.  Despite the last minute change of venue, everyone turned up in the right place at the right time!  Unfortunately the schedule was impacted due to a lower number of tables being in use at the start of the event and also the fact that it was a gloriously sunny day in Aberdeen which affected play on a certain number of tables due to the fact that the hall had windows.  It was regrettable that matches had to be  reduced to the best of three and latterly one end only in order to finalise all events however we hope that this did not spoil the enjoyment of the day, and possibly even added to the excitement!

Top seed Craig Howieson claimed the honours in the Men's Singles with a straight sets victory over defending champion Colin Dalgleish in the final.  Niall Cameron and Sepehr Bidari were the losing semi finalists.  In a disappointing Ladies Singles event, where there were only four entrants, Faye Leggett topped the group with victories over Jennie Yang, Isla Stott and Tessa Yau.  Niall Cameron and Ethan Chapman won the Open Doubles with a surprise defeat of Craig Howieson and Colin Dalgleish.

Most of the Junior events went as per seeding with Dylan Curry, James Forrest and Yifei Fang successful in the Junior, Cadet and Minor Boys events respectively.  Faye Leggett toppled Tessa Yau to capture her second title of the day in the Junior Girls while Tessa was unbeaten in the Cadet Girls category.  Holly McNamara was delighted to win the Minor Girls event while Jonathan Pan claimed his second successive Under 11 title.
