Northumbria Table Tennis League Weekly Report – 29September 2019
In the Premier division three games this week ended up with the same 9-1 score. Mount A beat Old England Jacks 9-1 as Anthony Ainley, Phil Prady and Dan Dodds proved too strong for their opponents although there was a consolation point for Old England as Lynne Herrington played well to defeat Ainley in a close game over five ends. The St Chads team of Joshua Weatherby, Chris Blake and Paul Baines had a straightforward win over Prudhoe who’s consolation point came from a Mark O’Connor win over Paul Baines. The NECA A team of Martin Schapira, Adam Webster and Lee Tinkler had a straightforward win over Cramlington Casuals with the only point for Cramlington came as Iain Wood had a good win over Martin Schapira. The fourth game of the week was much closer game which saw Cramlington Stingers run out 6-4 winners over Matfen Senators. Players on both sides contributed wins but Nigel Rodgers edged the player of the match winning two games for the Cramlington team.
In Division one there was a straightforward 10-0 win for Tyneside TTC A over Cramlington Tigers who were only to field two players. Mark Kimberley, Mark Patterson and Rob Lawson all won their games to secure the win for Tyneside. The second game of the week was a much closer game between Matfen Centurions and Prudhoe B which saw Prudhoe edge it with a 6-4 win. Jordan Dove was player of the match winning his three games for Prudhoe.
In Division 2 there was an all Cramlington game between the experienced Cramlington Reivers team of Bernie McArdle, Joe Swinburn and Michael Dunn against the younger Cramlington Falcons team of Oliver Ho, Archie Stokes and Alfie Stokes. The Cramlington Falcons team came out on top with a 7-3 win all of the young players winning two gamesbut player of the match went to the Reivers’ Bernie McArdle who proved too strong and won his three games. There was an all Ouston game between the B and C teams in which the B team came out on top with an 8-2 win. Michael Lyons was player of the match for Ouston B winning three games and he was supported by Jeff McKenna and Neil Rodgers who both won two games each. Cramlington Trojans secured a 6-4 win over Matfen Tribunes with Israel Shoedinde playing well to win his three games for Cramlington with support from Jack Cairns and Roy Hugill. The experienced Mount E team of Alan Livingstone, Charlie Mouzon and Michael Hope proved too strong for Cramlington Swifts as they won 7-3. All the Mount players won two games and Livingstone and Mouzoncombined to win the doubles. Richard Williamson played well for Cramlington securing two wins over Michael Hope and Charlie Mouzon.
In Division 3 the Matfen Cohorts team of Mark Perrin, Linda Pinkham and Richard Rayfield proved too strong for their Newton C opponents as they secured a 10-0 win. Brandon Bravehearts had a 7-3 win over Cramlington Jaguars with Jamie Westwater continuing his good form for Brandon from the summer league winning his three games, with Paul Dale and Alan Perry contributing the other wins. Abdel Warayetplayed well for Cramlington with wins over the experienced Paul Dale and Alan Perry. The Cramlington Cobras team of Joe Hastings, Alan Hedley and James Ainsley overcame Saints with a 6-4 win. All the Cramlington players contributed wins but player of the match went to Saints’ Steve Dawson despite being on the losing side as he won his three games.
In Division 4 Cramlington Dragons had a straightforward 8-2win over Cramlington Colts with Pauline Long player of the match winning her three games from the Dragons. However, Sara Haddi played well winning two games for the Colts against the more experienced Adrian Barnes and Stephen Baxter. There was also a straightforward 9-1 win for Cramlington Knights over Cramlington Magpies. Patrick Easton and Matthew Mastaglio both won their three games for the Knights. Joel Dyter secured the consolation point for the Magpies with a win over Jessica Yang.
