Northumbria Table Tennis League Weekly Report – 10November 2019
This week was allocated to the first round of the cup with six ties being played. The six ties saw Matfen Senators beat Cramlington Dynamos 5-4; NECA A beat Matfen Tribunes 6-3; Matfen Centurions beat Prudhoe B 6-3; Mount B beat Cramlington Knights 5-1; and Ouston B beat Tyneside TTC C 6-3.
In Division 1 Brandon Anacondas had an 8-2 win over Ouston A thanks to Stephen Pattinson and Ian Richardson who both won their three games, Jamie Westwater won one game and pared up with Richardson to win the doubles. In the second game there was a top of the table versus bottom of the table between Newcastle University and Ouston A. The University team lost their unbeaten record going down to 7-3 to Ouston, the win moved Ouston off the bottom of the table. Neil Wilkinson was player of the match winning his three games.
In Division 4 the top two teams Cramlington Dynamos and Cramlington Dragons were in action. The Dynamos had a straightforward 10-0 win over Cramlington Colts. The Dynamos team of Alan Roskilly, Tony Roskilly and Rohan Rawat proved too strong for their opponents. Cramlington Dragons had an equally straightforward 9-1 win over Cramlington Magpies. Pauline Long and Adrian Barnes both won their three games with Stephen Baxter winning two games. The consolation point for the Magpies came from a Sara Haddi win over Stephen Baxter.
The Northumbria league junior team recently played in day one of the National Junior League at Ormesby. The team of Oliver Ho, Alan Roskilly, Harry Veitch and Jack Cairns had three fantastic wins beating Ormesby C 9-0, Darlington A 7-2 and Ormesby B 8-1. At the end of round one of matches the team are joint top with Ormesby A although the Northumbria team have a game in hand over Ormesby.
The Northumbria league cadet team played in day one of the National Cadet League at Ormesby this weekend. The team of Oliver Ho, Ferg Kilsby and Leo Conn had three fantastic wins. They beat Darlington 5-4 and then had 9-0 wins over both Scarborough and Bridlington.
