Northumbria Table Tennis League Weekly Report – 22December 2019
With the league moving into it’s xmas break there was not the usual full fixture list, the only games taking place were games re-arranged games from earlier in the season.
In the Premier Division there was a clash between the bottom two teams in the league which saw Old England Jacks win 6-4 against Matfen Senators. Jake Helm was in good form for Old England winning three games and pairing up with Alan Atkinson to win the doubles; Atkinson won two singles games. Stephen Oxley won two games for Matfen, and Alex Holliday and Neil Forsyth both won one game. Cramlington Stingers had a good win away to Mount C with Steve Pearce coming away with player of the match winning three games and Nigel Rodgers winning two games. St Chads had two games in the week. In the first they overcame an understrength Mount A team who could only field two playersin an 8-2 win. Keith Weatherby and Chris Blake both won three games each for St Chads. In the second game St Chads faced NECA A and went down to a 7-3 defeat. NECA won the game with Andrew Wilkinson, Adam Webster and Lee Tinkler all winning two games each. Player of the match went to St Chads Josh Weatherby who won all three games.
In Division 1 Prudhoe B had two games in the week but unfortunately lost both games. In the first they lost 7-3 to Mount D. Mohinder Rawat was player of the match for Mount winning three games with Shirley Gelder winning two and Justin Tetlow one game. The points for Prudhoe came from two wins by Ryan Campbell and one win for Maurice Cheek. In the second game Prudhoe lost to Cramlington Tigers 6-4. Cramlington had Oliver Ho and Bernie McArdle playing up for them; Oliver Ho was player of the match winning three games with Bernie McArdle winning two games and the pair combined to win the doubles. The points for Prudhoe came from two wins by Ryan Campbell and one win for Jordan Dove.
In Division 2 there was an all Cramlington game between Cramlington Spartans and Cramlington Falcons. Cramlington Falcons won the game 6-4 with Oliver Ho player of the match winning three games for the Falcons with Archie Stokes winning two games and Alfie Stokes one game. The Spartans’ point came from Rob Lee with two wins and Sam Nair one point.
In Division 3 Matfen Whitley Chapel had a straightforward win over Saints with a 9-1 win. Pete Seago and Stefan Sobell both won three games for Matfen and William Martin won two games. The consolation point for Saints came as Steve Dawson beat Martin.
In Division 4 there was just one game as Cramlington Lions beat Cramlington Knights 8-2. John McKenna and Freddie McKenna both won three games each for the Lions and paired up to win the doubles.
