Shottery A captain Gary Stewart produced a perfect performance as his team came away from Henley B with the narrowest of victories. Graham Poole and Stephen Foster each contributed wins, but the 6-4 result will have made their quest to retain title honours more difficult. Andy Rowland earned a brace for the hosts, despite being made to work hard by Foster before finally securing their game in the fifth set. Dave Milton and Robert McCluskey added successes for Henley to ensure that, for only for the second time this season in the Stratford league, all six players competing in the match got on the card.
In contrast Shottery’s fellow reigning joint champions Colebridge Pasties imposed the whitewash upon Tanworth Taipans who were disadvantaged by only being able to field two players. Tom Shortley, Mike Evetts and Dean Hicks were unbeaten, although, after earning a two set lead against Darius Mrowinski, Hicks was taken to a decider where he narrowly claimed the honours 13-11.
A Tony Seymour treble provided the backbone to Henley A's win at Veterans. Geoff Shephard and Peter Quince added braces but, despite Quince gaining an early lead, neither were able to overcome David Wye who thereby earned both the hosts’ points. Wye was unlucky not to add to his haul in the doubles when he and David Higgins lost out in a five set contest.
